Fire Damage Larkfield-Wikiup Fire Damage Remediation Go ahead, sweep up that ash, soot, plastic, metal, toxins...wait? Do you have a big enough sweeper, or a mask, or enough time to take care of this?!

With fire damage, there may be more than just one loss from the elements. The home could be at risk for water damage from fighting the fire, or mold damage from any water that hadn't yet dried! Suffering from one loss is enough, you don't need to suffer from two or three. This Larkfield-Wikiup damage happened just a few months ago, and it was a lot of work for our technicians. If it's a lot of work for us, we imagine it's even more work for you.

What is fire damage remediation?

In relation to work needed in Larkfield-Wikiup, fire damage remediation sound fancy, but it simply means fire damage repair/restoration. We strive to put a damaged home back together how it was before the fire. Basically, we want all the signs to be gone that the fire ever existed! We can't erase your memory, but we sure try to erase the everyday visual of what your home had to go through.

Who can work on fire damaged homes?

We always recommend that a crew supervised by a licensed technician-one that has IICRC credentials-be in charge of any restoration project you have. Big or small, the wrong technician will make the fire damage issues bigger than they need to be. Don't go that extra mile, just go to SERVPRO! 24 hours a day, 7 days a week!

Santa Rosa Fire Cleanup

6/12/2018 (Permalink)

We emphasize we are an emergency service company; however, a lot of folks are not aware of the types of services that can assist with Santa Rosa emergency fire cleanup, or other cleanup for that matter. We have gotten calls about fire damage that happened a month previously. We always offer to help, but sometimes there's not a whole lot we can do once fire damage has been sitting for a long time.

Why you need to clean quickly

There are tons of reasons why smoke and fire damage can't sit after a fire has occurred. Odor could set in, smoke damage could eat away at materials, walls will be harder to clean and soot becomes caked and difficult to remove, even with our latest electronics.

Often, insurance companies take too long to approve of services, which means the process could be more expensive for the insurance company (if you have homeowners insurance). We have regular meetings by phone and in person with insurance adjusters who come on site to the home that has been burned. Everyone needs to be on board.

The restoration process that could be involved

Restoration is the final step—getting your home or business to its pre-fire condition. Restoration may involve minor repairs, such as replacing drywall, painting, and installing new carpet; or it may entail major repairs such as the reconstruction of various areas or rooms in a home or business.

Fire damage cleanup available in Geyserville

2/14/2018 (Permalink)

Fire Damage Fire damage cleanup available in Geyserville It's hard and emotional to digest what's happened to you home; we perform board ups so nothing else happens to it.

What is the process of fire restoration?

We start by securing your property with the boarding up of broken windows, exposed walls and the roof, and any other area in order to prevent animals or intruders from invading your home. We routinely perform this procedure on all jobs, including ones in rural Geyserville.

Depending on the time of day, technicians can start carefully removing contents from your home and evaluating the structure, as well as putting together a scope of the work involved. This scope is for you so you know how your home is going to be put back together.  Regarding contents, almost anything can be cleaned or deodorized.

Once restoration work starts

While your home is having the soot removed, our equipment is working on getting the structure dry. Most building materials can have water extracted, and then our specialized equipment will effectively dry the remaining moisture. We don’t want to wait too long to start removing water; it can be incredibly corrosive and cause secondary damage to your home, as well as your contents.

Fire damage repair in Windsor

9/11/2017 (Permalink)

Having to deal with fire damage repair doesn't sound like fun. Wouldn't it be helpful if you knew you could avoid dealing with fire damage repair for your Windsor home?

Below are some helpful tips and some advice on how to prevent fire damage and deal with fire damage if it does come:

1.) Trim your trees

This chore needs to be done before the summer heat hits. However, if it's summer already and you still haven't done it, take care of it at night or on a day that isn't too hot. Sparks from fuel operated or electrical equipment is all that's needed to start a fire.

2.) Keep a 100 ft. defensible space around your home

We can't stress enough, and neither can the fire department, on the importance of having at least a 100 ft. space around your home that is free of debris, dry brush, tree branches, or dry leaves. These are kindling for fires, and disposing them properly or keeping them away from your home will help prevent a house fire mishap.

If you do have fire damage, here is the advice we'd like to give:

1.) Call your insurance company right away

Every house should have homeowners insurance, or renters should have renters insurance to protect their belongings. We cannot stress this enough; the cost is very minimal, but the loss of your stuff if you don't pay $12 a month for insurance is very high. Keeping up to date on your renters insurance policy every 6 months to 1 year will also ensure you have proper coverage.

2.) Keep out of the home after a fire.

Your safety is at a huge risk if you enter your home before an investigation and safety inspection has been conducted. You also may be breathing in toxic smoke.

3.) Call SERVPRO of Sonoma County NE!

We will stay out of the fire department's way as they finish their work, and we can assist you in filing a claim. We may also be able to help you decide whether you should, or need, to file a claim depending on the estimated cost of fire damage repair.

For more information on our services, be sure to check out our fire damage restoration page.

Geyserville house fire repair and cleanup

9/8/2017 (Permalink)

Fire Damage Geyserville house fire repair and cleanup Restoration made a huge difference in this house fire caused by a wall heater.

What did people do before restoration companies?

We can't imagine not being there for people way back in the day, but at one point SERVPRO didn't exist. The company has only been around since the 1960's. We imagine that before SERVPRO was around (as well as other restoration companies-we admit, we're not the only one!), people did what they could to mask odors, get rid of "damaged" goods (things that could be repaired but weren't), and ultimately spent more money.

How has restoration helped people today?

Instead of painting over smoke damage in a Geyserville house fire cleanup, we removed the smoke damage through good old-fashioned hard work. We also restored some furniture, paintings, and even took care of the laundry. We also saved the family thousands of dollars in demolition and reconstruction because we believe every little penny counts in these situations!

Renters insurance and protection

If you're a renter, having renters insurance is incredibly important. The owner of the building where you rent space may have insurance for the structure, but how will you replace your belongings? Paying $15-$25 a month to replace your belongings in case of a fire or water damage loss is a LOT cheaper than having nothing for months as you scramble to replace things you really need. Clothes, furniture, food, and kitchen appliances can be pricey if you have to buy them all at once.

Apartment fire

This Geyserville apartment, along with a few other ones, caught fire in the middle of the night. We received the call, and got things ready really early in the morning. We spoke with the owners, allowed fire inspectors to finish their investigation, and put together a game plan. Our services for this job included moisture reading, demolition, and cleaning of renter's contents. Fire damage repair and content restoration can be pretty extensive. Our project lasted almost a month, and the apartments looked better than ever when we were finished!

Guerneville fire damage loss

8/30/2017 (Permalink)

Fires are popping up in Sonoma County as we update our fire tips for the week. Whether it's a fire due to the heat, chemicals being mixed, matches, or someone attempting to cook their first turkey, fires happen constantly and in differing levels of severity.

Although the severity of some wildfires are out of our control, there are things you can NOT do to prevent fires (think Smokey the Bear):

Lighting cigarettes while driving

Many people on the go have the bad habit (derived from an already bad habit) of smoking as they drive. Many drivers light their cigarette as they are driving, which can be as dangerous as texting. Practicing safe multitasking in the car is essential; avoid it as much as possible. Cigarettes can be dropped, your clothing or car could catch on fire, and lit cigarettes are often flicked out of car windows into dry grass areas or areas with chemical spills from vehicles. THIS IS INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS AND AVOIDABLE. Avoiding more Guerneville fire damage is essential as we get into the summer season.

Leaving BBQ's and ovens unattended

Summer means swimming, BBQ's, Fourth of July, more cooking and cleanup, and potentially more fires. One of our number one tips for those who want to enjoy the summer, and not deal with your insurance claim due to a house fire, is to not leave your BBQ pit or grill, or your oven, unattended. You may get distracted, forget, or accidentally cook your food too hot, which can increase the intensity of a fire.

Keep an eye on those flames so they don't get out of control! Follow this link for more tips on dealing with fire damage safely

Santa Rosa fire damage remediation services

We don't like change; when something devastating hits us, it flips our whole world upside down and we don't know what to do from day to day. We have to make long term plans, yet are told to take things a day at a time. Whether you've experienced a death in the family, a major illness, or a fire, you know what being under stress feels. Santa Rosa fire damage remediation has been known to be stressful due to the price of restoration and reconstruction, as well as the time it takes you away from your life. We have everything you need in a fire damage restoration company.

Getting help in all the right areas

Usually, finances and a place to sleep are the first things that strike a family as issues when their home has been overtaken by a fire. There are programs and communities that help provide for these resources, and communicating your needs is essential. Depending on your insurance policy (homeowners insurance, that is), you may be able to get help with bills, food, temporary housing, and even rebuilding. But, if you don't have homeowners insurance right now, GET IT. Contact your agent and sign up! It's incredibly inexpensive, depending on how much you decide to insure.

Communication with your insurance company

A lot of people may feel intimidated about calling their insurance company; they may be afraid of being denied, not being able to file other claims, or their rates increasing due to an event that may or may not have been their fault. We can help you ask the right questions with your insurance company. We encourage everyone to file a claim if a significant amount of work needs to be done, and it's above your deductible. Getting an estimate and inspection from a SERVPRO Project Manager would be the first step; we can ultimately help you decide whether you should file a claim, and we remain in contact with your insurance company until the job is finished.
